Nutrition methodology
How NutritionBlend.IO calculates, reviews, and explains nutrition guidance.
This page exists because nutrition tools need transparency. Calculators and AI planners can be useful, but only when users understand that outputs are estimates, not medical instructions.
Macro Calculator Formula
The calculator estimates resting energy needs with a Mifflin-St Jeor-style BMR formula, converts pounds and inches to metric units, then applies an activity multiplier to estimate TDEE. Goal adjustments are then applied: a deficit for fat loss, maintenance for stability, and a modest surplus for lean muscle goals.
Why We Call It a Starting Point
Energy expenditure is affected by training output, non-exercise movement, digestion, logging accuracy, sleep, menstrual cycle shifts, hydration, medications, and medical history. A calculator gives a starting target. Real progress comes from comparing two-to-four-week trends against the intended outcome.
Content Review Standard
NutritionBlend.IO content is written for practical education, reviewed for claim clarity, and kept away from disease-treatment promises. We prefer conservative phrasing, visible disclaimers, and adjustment guidance over hype.
